.ORG.UK domain name – is a general use (usually for non-profit organizations) second-level domain. Some Country-Code Top Level Domains aren’t available for registration without added Second-Level Domains that separate them into several categories. In the case of the .UK domain, you are not allowed to register a domain name directly under the Top Level Domain, but under a Second-Level Domain, which means your actual site name will be the third level domain. As noted, domains with the .UK domain can’t be registered at the second level. On the bright side, most of the .UK domains can be signed up fro freely by everybody. For the .ORG.UK domain name registration there are no requirements. The .ORG.UK domain name is mostly used by non-profit organizations. These requirements are mostly a formality though. The .ME.UK domain name is reserved only for individuals and can’t be registered by firms. To register these domains you don’t have to be a UK citizen or a UK-based company. NET.UK is reserved only for ISPs and similar companies, AC.UK is for academic institutions and SCH.UK is for primary or secondary schools. LTD.UK and .PLC.UK are restricted only to UK companies. However, these and other more restricted .UK domains are not very popular for registration.
