Dedicated Hosting Service

The Dedicated Hosting Service is the only type of hosting that allows you to rent your own server where you can host your website. If you use a dedicated server all the resources on the server are only for you and not shared with anyone as it is with shared web hosting plans, the entire server hosts one website. The Dedicated hosting service provides the customer with much more resources and reliability than shared hosting. For these reasons, it is also much more expensive. A cheaper solution is the VPS dedicated hosting.

Dedicated hosting is suitable only for big websites with really great traffic that require excellent performance, very high security, and stability. The dedicated hosting service also provides flexibility and full control over the server, so the client could choose the operating system, even the hardware, the applications, scripts and all the setting he or she wants for the server. Hosting companies also provide lots of different security programs. And because a dedicated server hosts only one account its reliability and security are much higher.

Types Of Dedicated Hosting Services

Depending on the level of server managed to host companies offer two main types of dedicated server hosting:

  • Managed
  • Unmanaged

With different providers managed hosting could include full management of the server or partial one. Some hosting providers don’t offer management services at all or they should be additionally ordered. Managed dedicated hosting is recommended to inexperienced users, while unmanaged hosting is suitable only for a specialist in system administration and website development.

Management Of A Dedicated Server

Although the dedicated hosting service gives you full access to the server and enables you to do all the server administration on your own you could order dedicated hosting with server management and support as additional service. Most hosting providers offering dedicated servers let the customers pick the operating system and applications they want. In this way, the server can be fully modified to meet the client’s expectations. That’s why it is important to check up what level of customization they offer. For these reasons dedicated hosting services are more suitable for users with experience. Dedicated hosting services often include user-friendly Control Panels for the easier and automated creation of websites, databases, management of hosting or email accounts and some of the server’s functions. However, these web-based Control Panels do not provide full access to the server. Dedicated servers are expensive and hard to manage. However, with a smaller investment, you can order your own VPS dedicated server that offers almost the same functionality and independence, customizable OS and settings as well as upgradable cloud resources.
